Each week we will have our members submit a poem based on a prompt. We will then randomly choose one of the pieces and share it here and on our Instagram!
This week the prompt was: A Poem of Place
This Poetry Tuesday our winner is Selfish Desires by Karina Saenz
Place upon my hands
Your own
So that our flesh may touch
And our blood find rhythm
So that I may pull you closer
Until our veins intertwine
And we are but one
Place upon my hands
Your head
So that I may cradle it
And hold it to my chest
So that you may hear the beating
Of this unruly organ
And hear its prayer
Place upon my hands
Your sins
So that I may love them
And absolve you of such agony
So that your repentance will be mine
Beholden only to my tender mercy
And never to anothers
Place upon my hands
Your soul
So that I may treasure it
And unburden your cage of flesh and bone
So that it may fall away
Never again teaching you of carnal pain
And forever in my care
And the prompt for next weeks Poetry Tuesday is: A Poem About Growing
If you are interested in participating please submit here!
We look forward to new entries and being able to share our students talents!
